Description:

Sicily, Syracuse AR Tetradrachm. Deinomenid Tyranny. Time of Hieron I, circa 480/78-475 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving slow quadriga right; Nike flying right above, crowning horses / Head of Arethusa right, wearing earring, necklace and headband, her hair tied in a krobylos; ΣVRΑKΟΣΙΟΝ and four dolphins around. Boehringer 165 (V72/R114); SNG ANS 49. 17.18g, 25mm, 7h.

Very Fine, some corrosion to obv. Pleasant light tone.
